Role overview

BIG BCN has experienced remarkable growth, and we are currently looking for an ambitious, talented, and organized Junior BIM Specialist to join our team.

As a BIM Specialist, you will be working together with the BIM and DT team on multiple projects and stages. You will be the go-to person for BIM related issues and topics on various projects, in close coordination with the Design Technology Manager. An open and positive attitude to helping out your colleagues is a must, whether it’s basic issues or more complex requests and questions. You will also be asked to help with coordination tasks, running clash detection exercises on projects using varies methods, as well as helping the teams out with the overall coordination. Whenever you might not be busy with strictly BIM related things, you will be expected to help the team out with general project delivery. You will be reporting to the Design Technology Manager in Barcelona.

What you will do

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive the BIM efforts in the office across multiple projects in collaboration with the BIM Manager.
  • Advise and introduce improvements to project teams by sharing expert BIM knowledge.
  • Establishing, developing, and implementing design technology workflows within and beyond Revit.
  • Creating and maintaining project-specific parametric content.
  • Actively engaging with the project teams to troubleshoot and to ensure BIM is used to its full potential.
  • Taking the lead on 3D coordination, interoperability, and other BIM-specific workflows on the projects.
  • Engage in projects that require advanced modelling techniques and workflows.
  • Educating staff in Revit and related architectural software.
  • Actively monitoring and streamlining Revit models.
  • Help maintain a positive BIM environment on the project, with a yes-hat attitude to BIM.

Expertise we seek

Desirable Qualities and Skills:

  • Skills in: Rhino inside, Dynamo, Python & general programming skills, Rhino, Grasshopper, Enscape, AutoCAD, the Ideate Suite for Revit, BIM 360 Team/Design, CDE Systems.
  • Relevant professional certifications & memberships.
  • Hands-on design and construction experience.
  • Familiar with digital collaboration solutions.

You are

Join us if you are a person who:

  • Has a minimum of 3 years of professional work experience using Revit as your core BIM tool.
  • Demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities.
  • Loves to work at the intersection of architectural technology, project delivery, and computation
  • Is a heavy Revit user, who has conquered the Family Editor.
  • Knows architectural design and knows the basics of an architectural drawing set production.
  • Understands the importance of 3D coordination, familiarized with tools such Navisworks, Revitzo and the ACC Coordination module.
  • Is organized, structured and detail-oriented.
  • Has self-confidence and persistence.
  • Can manage priorities with minimal guidance.
  • Follows through and completes tasks with a sense of urgency.
  • Can be flexible about working hours and assignments.
  • Is a good colleague and a team player, and yet capable of working independently.
  • Knows industry BIM standards & requirements.
  • Is a Qualified Architect, Engineer, Constructing Architect, Architectural Technologist, or equivalent.
